With Green Buildings, very much like with green infrastructure, we try to eliminate the negative impacts of human developments or even create positive effects.

Green buildings aim to save precious recourses. This starts with an environmentally friendly design, from the choice of building material over using less material or the ability to recycle the building to the use of renewable energy and the efficient use of energy. In fact, the use of the building does not matter. In principle, any building can be a green building as long as it follows the principles just mentioned.

Our Solution

Using the new SJ campus as an example, we implemented the following solutions, among others:

  • Super low energy building design

  • Selfshading façade to maximise natural light and minimise solar heat gain and reliance on artificial lighting

  • Under floor air distribution for improved indoor air quality and energy savings.

  • Solar panels on upper level roofs

  • Smart lighting and smart car parking system

  • Rain gardens and bio swales

Additionally, 100 % of the green area is being replaced. More than 50 % of the existing green area is maintained whilst the remaining landscape loss is replaced by accessible roof gardens.
